Brain Day 2017

On Tuesday Dr Guy Sutton, a neuroscientist,  gave a fantastic workshop on the psychology an biology of the brain.

Students had the chance to learn about the structure of neurones and the role of a synapse, how drugs interfere with neurotransmitters at a synapse, the long-term and short-term effects of medicinal and recreation drugs, how monitoring brain activity could potentially be used to identify different mental health disorders and be used in providing evidence for the prosecution of criminals!  The day was topped of with a sheep brain dissection where students got to hold and examine the different parts of the brain and draw the structures after.
